Dr. Alex Madva

About Dr. Madva

Alex Madva is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He received his BA in Philosophy and English at Tufts University and his MA and PhD from Columbia University. His research centers on the questions that research in social psychology raises for philosophy of mind, philosophy of race and feminism, and applied ethics, especially prejudice and discrimination. Dr. Madva has taught courses including Race and Racism, Cognitive Science, Feminist Philosophy of Science, Social and Political Philosophy, Contemporary Moral Problems, and upper-division undergraduate and graduate seminars on implicit bias, social psychology, and philosophy. He has led numerous workshops, keynote and plenary addresses, and training sessions on intergroup bias, stereotype threat, and impostor syndrome for schools, courts, and wider audiences.
