Michael Scott Robertson is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Long Beach City College (LBCC) and is currently serving as the institution’s Online Education Faculty Coordinator, facilitating faculty professional development for online learning since Spring 2020. A proud alumnus of CSULB, Mr. Robertson earned BA and MA degrees in Anthropology, focusing on culture, linguistics, and issues of disability and accessibility. While working with LBCC online education colleagues, he often draws upon his anthropological training by reframing technological questions as human questions.
In addition, Mr. Robertson is a Co-Lead Facilitator for the Online Course Cultural Curriculum Audit—the flagship student equity seminar for LBCC faculty. In this role, he has worked with an amazing team to plan, develop, and facilitate a home-grown program for over 300 faculty over 2 years. The Cultural Curriculum Audit engages cohorts of instructors to redesign their courses for student equity and success, and he is incredibly proud to serve as a partner in the faculty participants’ journeys.
