Shonda Goward, Ed.D. is the Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Advising and Success at San José State University where she leads 10 student success centers in closing equity gaps. Her current practice and research focuses on how universities can retain historically excluded students and support their academic success and well-being. Dr. Goward earned her B.A. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double major in journalism and mass communication and political science, a master of arts in English with a concentration in African American Literature from Southern Connecticut State University, and her doctorate in higher education administration from The George Washington University. She also completed the CSU Student Success Analytics Certificate Program in 2021.
